Energy Processes and Emissions Reduction

The research carried out by the group is included in one of the main research lines of INCAR, such as the decarbonization of industrial sectors. This entails the development of technologies for the production of renewable hydrogen from bioresources as well as emerging CO2 capture technologies. Biomass constitutes a fundamental pillar in the development of the research activity of the group, with a double aspect: its valorization for energy purposes and its transformation into high added value materials in the framework of a circular economy. The group has an important background and infrastructures for the study of clean and sustainable energy generation processes, CO2 capture, and the characterization of carbon materials for different applications. These lines are framed within the Global Change Challenges proposed by CSIC for its Strategic Plan 2022-2025, and more specifically, in addressing scientific challenges (Global Challenge A).
