Ecology and global change

The activity of our Research Group deals with the ecological and evolutionary selective processes faced by plants living in dry habitats. We apply this knowledge to the control of soil erosion and plant restoration, especially under dry and semiarid climatic conditions. Research at the research Group includes studies on the reproductive biology of plants, plant responses to disturbances- such as forest fires-, plant-plant interactions-with special emphasis on facilitation processes-, the rules that determine and structure the composition of species in plant communities, plus the evolutionary consequences of all these processes. Many of the studies developed have implications for land management, biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration.
