Colloidal Materials

The research activity of the Colloidal Materials Group is focused on the synthesis and surface modification of new colloidal functional materials with controlled characteristics (particle size and shape, crystallinity, composition, specific surface area), their characterization and the evaluation of their properties for application in biomedicine, ceramics and optoelectronics. This task involves both fundamental studies and the transfer of knowledge to industry and it is supported by a strong background of their members in several synthesis methods (wet colloidal chemistry and aerosols) and characterization techniques (electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction, synchrotron-based techniques, nuclear magnetic resonance, luminescence, etc), as well as by active collaborations with various national and international research groups .
