Chemical Technology of Separation and Detection

Our group works on the development of separation techniques, optical detection systems and sensors based on molecular environment effects in the emission of fluorescence. These tools are applied to the characterization and/or determination of target analytes in complex systems such as those related to Lipidomics, detection of biological and biomedical interest compounds, petroleum products and biofuels. The group's research lines are located in the Matter-Life interface, because although the technology developed by the group belongs to Matter, some of the applications of this technology are related to Life as the development of new sensors and two different automated platforms for the selective determination of analytes in biological fluids as well as the development of nanobiosensors, new therapies and technologies for the diagnosis of infections and cancer. Related to Matter we are working on the development of new materials for optoelectronics and molecular nanotransport systems.
