Biodiversity, Ecosystems and Landscape

We study biodiversity and its effects on ecosystems from the perspective of spatial and landscape ecology, with both theoretical and applied focus. We analyze the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functions across different temporal and spatial scales, considering functional traits, ecological interactions, and landscape dynamics. Our applied research is focused on nature conservation and human well-being in human-disturbed ecosystems. Therefore, the group aims to balance the generation of theoretical insights with developing methodological and practical tools for specific applications. In this regard, we produce research with an impact on the international scientific community and outreach materials for society.
