Service description
The purpose of this technique is to provide the total content of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and sulfur present in solid metallic and non-metallic samples. The technique is based on the complete and instantaneous oxidation of the sample through a combustion with pure oxygen at a temperature of approximately 1000ºC. The different products of combustion CO2, H2O and N2, are transported by the carrier gas (He) through a reduction tube and then selectively separated into specific columns to be then thermally desorbed. Finally, the gases pass separately through a thermal conductivity detector that provides a signal proportional to the concentration of each of the individual components of the mixture.
