The main purpose of CHEMBIOPOL is to develop and apply new analytical and chemometric methods for the comprehensive identification and quantitation of organic pollutants and microplastics in the environment and for evaluating their molecular effects on biota. By integrating data on contaminants present in water, fish and birds and the metabolomic signature of exposed organisms, CHEMBIOPOL will represent a significant advancement in improving environmental risk assessment strategies and investigate the current challenges associated with the increasing presence of organic pollutants in the environment and their harmful effects on biota.
