Laser Spectroscopy

The group is formed in the 80's leading the implementation of laser techniques in spain through the 'CSIC mobilization program for lasers and their applications'. In Spain it is pioneer on the application onf lasers to high resolution spectroscopy, studying vibration and rotation os small molecules. The group stands out for the development of complex experimental techniques, not commercially available: stimulated Raman spectroscopy, Raman pumping, time-resolved double-resonance Raman-Raman, and difference frequency infrared spectroscopy. The techniques that the group has developed and exploited share the stress on the precission and accuracy of the frequency measurements, and the use of frequency-stalilized single-mode laser sources, with lower spectral linewidth than the the Doppler width of the molecular spectroscopic transitions.
