Human Pressures Ecology (HUMUH)
Our main objective is the analysis of the impact of human activities, primarilymainly fishing, on marine ecosystems. This includes studying the effects of climate change not only on species and communities but also how vulnerable these human activities are to its effects. We are also involved in studies of human pressures for the definition and characterization of protected areas. We participate in the development of management and monitoring plans and analyze the risks to habitats and species. These activities have led to new areas of work aimed at developing tools for the integrated and sustainable management of marine ecosystems: the impact of offshore wind energy; modeling the effects of trade-offs; the combined effects of climate change and human pressures; and more. We also provide training in R programming, spatial data analysis, and fisheries ecology.
