Service description

The purpose of this analysis is the separation of foraminifera larger than 63 microns present in the sample. The sediment is attacked with hydrogen peroxide and is subsequently sieved of with a disaggregate agent (sodium pyrophosphate) to separate the foraminifera from the rest of the sample and then dried at 80 °C in an oven. If it is required a further analysis of radioactive isotopes, the sample is not attacked with hydrogen peroxide and it is subjected to gentle agitation with pyrophosphate during a few hours. Subsequently, the sample is sieved 63 microns and dried at 40 °C in an oven.
