Ultrasonic Resonators for microcmanipulation and cavitation(RESULT)


RESULT is a group proceeding from the earlier insitute of Acoustics of CSIC and was formed from two lines of research under developments since 1991:acoustic micromanipulation and cavitation.
This group develop micro/milli-fluidic devices for ultrasonic manipulation of particles, cells and tissues, for applications of sorting, separation and cell fixation, as well as modification of tissues and tumors and bubbly liquids. The group also study nonlinear mechanisms involved and the effects acoustically induced in these media: mulitdisciplinar research applied to biotechnology, biomedicine and industrial applications.
The group was consolidated as international reference developing a pioneer label-free technology for early detection in cancer based in ultrasounds desease(http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn20531-sound-waves-can-identify-can... ). Collaborates with Universities (Harvard, Manchester, Univer) and hospitals (Massachusetts HGM, Ramón y Cajal, Elche)
