Systems devoid of long-range order


Our activity focuses into the study of systems and processes that do not fit within conceptual frameworks paradigmatic of the last century such as the thermodynamic equilibrium, the long-range order or the thermodynamic limit. A characteristic aspect of the group is the complementary use of neutron scattering and surface muon implantation into condensed mater samples together with cutting edge numerical techniques in its scientific endeavours. From such endeavours naturally grew up a technological-industrial line focused in the development of state of the art instruments and techniques for installations geared towards the use of neutron beams for research purposes. Our main driving force here is to stimulate the Spanish industry sector to develop their own industrial products. Such an effort lead to the provision of two complete neutron spectrometers as well as parts and components for another eight, all those in service at present.
