Bionanomechanics Lab (B-nano)


It is becoming increasingly evident that mechanics plays a dominant role in fundamentals biological processes and disease. Biosensing approaches based on nanomechanics can naturally exploit this connection in order to provide new advanced diagnosis kits and instrumentation for biomarker discovery. Our group explores unique biosensing schemes that merge optics and mechanics at the nanoscale with biological interactions related to diseases. We aim at scientific results which are both suitable for publication in the highest impact journals (previous publications include articles in Nature Nanotechnology IP=31.170, Chem. Soc. Rev. IP=24.892, Nanoletters IP= 13.025) and for inspiring technologies to be patented and commercially exploited for the benefit of society (the spin-off company MecWins SA, founded in 2008 and Nanodreams SL in 2015, by group researchers, exploit several patents obtained by the group).
