SYNTHESIS OF NATURAL PRODUCTS GROUP
Radical chemistry is particularly advantageous for carrying out structural modifications on biomolecules as the reaction conditions are compatible with a numerous functional groups and solvents. Our research is centered in the applications of free radicals to the development of new synthetic methodologies to prepare chiral synthons and compounds with potential biological interest.
We have introduced the use of new oxidising systems based on hypervalent iodine reagents for the generation of O- and N-centered radicals. Alternatively we have also generated O-radicals using reductive conditions (n-Bu3SnH/AIBN). Recently, we have initiated a program based in use visible light to generate C-radicals by photoexcitation of 1,2-dicarbonyl systems.
Our protocols based in beta-Fragmentation and Intramolecular Hydrogen Atom Transfer reactions (INHAT), allow to obtain different structures present in Natural Products and analogous, and study the behavior of transient radicals in biolog
